I spent 3 weeks in the main city of Leh, using it as a base to travel as far as the Tibetan Boarder and over the three highest drivable passes in the word (all around the 5600m mark....your use to that altitude i seem to remember). Now is the best time to be there....up til September when the passes close and flying in out is the only option. The people are wonderful, peaceful, colourful and very little.
